Confessions of an Indie Author
Here is the full blog post with the Amazon and Kindle Unlimited availability woven right into the announcement:
Ever since I changed the release date, I’ve felt so much better. Things are going smoother than I expected, and I’m still right on course with my revised timeline as I get closer to the finish line.
With that weight off my shoulders, I want to talk about something real: how lonely it can feel being an author sometimes.
There are so many incredible writers out there, whether indie or traditionally published. We write stories that readers fall in love with, but at the end of the day, we mostly write them for ourselves. When I first sat down to write this book, it started as a way to heal. Long before I ever called myself an author, I was an avid reader asking myself, What would it be like to write my own book? I’d wonder what kinds of characters I’d create and what twisted storylines would unfold.
Eventually, I put pen to paper and started writing.
Did it take a little longer than I originally planned? Definitely. Nobody warns you about the sheer amount of work that goes into being an indie author—you truly have to wear a million hats. I hate formatting and editing, not gonna lie! But every single headache is part of the learning curve, and learning how to market and share my work has become its own adventure.
It’s an exhausting process, but the payoff makes every late night worth it. Holding that finished copy in your hands, knowing real people are finally going to meet the characters who lived only in your head for so long, and watching your world flourish—there's nothing quite like it.
It’s terrifying at the beginning. But once you start, don’t stop. Keep going, finish the story, and watch the world you created come alive.
Missing an original deadline can be sickeningly stressful. But don't panic. Delays aren't failures; they’re part of learning what it really takes to be an author. If you need to give yourself more time or adjust your plan, do it. Nobody is going to be angry with you for taking the time to give your readers the best possible version of your world.
Your emotions will be chaotic. You’ll want to tweak one small detail, and suddenly you'll feel the urge to rewrite the entire plot. Try to resist tearing everything down—but if a major change is what your heart needs, trust your gut. You are writing this story for yourself first, whether as a healing journey or a space to express the messy parts of being human.
Remember: chaos and balance live side by side. When the stress hits or writer's block takes over, step away from the keyboard. Go outside, breathe real air, touch grass, hug a tree—ground yourself. Then sit back down with your laptop or notebook and keep going.
Life isn't perfect, and neither is the first draft. But you can do this. Keep your head up, keep moving forward, and finish your book.
Which brings me to this: My debut novel, Ruin Me, officially releases October 27th on Amazon and will be available to read for free with Kindle Unlimited.
If you crave high spice, authentic BDSM dynamics, dark thriller suspense, unhinged couples, found family, and the raw process of personal healing—this book was written for you. It even features visual art and photography woven throughout the pages, giving you an immersive window directly into this lifestyle and what these power dynamics truly mean to the people living them.
I am endlessly proud of this story. Beyond exploring a world many consider taboo, it's about genuine human connection. These characters are chaotic, angry, dramatic, and intensely flawed—because that’s what real people are. Balance doesn't happen every single day.
It’s okay to be different. It’s okay to embrace what you desire. And it’s okay to let your walls down, whether that means diving into a dark book, sitting in a coffee shop to share a kind word with a stranger having a rough day, or just offering a little light to someone who feels completely alone.
At the end of the day, that's why we tell stories: to connect.
Thank you for being on this wild journey with me. Mark your calendars for October 27th—I can’t wait for you to step into the world of Ruin Me on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. 🖤
